Thunder Storm, Ants in the Hugelbed and Growth!

Yesterday we had a thunderstorm. Very unusual for this area. It rained really hard for a little while and freshened everything up. 

I have been battling it out with red ants who have decided to try and make a home in the Hugelbed. I completely removed the hay at the base. I am using Diatomaceous Earth and other natural powders. They are kind of not really helping. I thought they were gone, but I saw them again this morning.
